The best New Mexico parks
New Mexico has some of America’s most amazing landscapes and outdoor recreation opportunities. With summer winding to a close, visiting a park is a great way to get out and explore New Mexico’s parks. Here are our picks for the top three parks in New Mexico.
Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument
This desert park features beautiful trails through slot canyons, desert scrublands, and amazing panoramic views of the countryside. It is also famous for the enormous conical rock formations (called “hoodoos”) which give the park its name.
This stunning desert landscape is particularly amazing at sunset and sunrise, when the glow makes the white sand desert look unreal. Famous for the Trinity nuclear test site, this desert also offers incredible hiking opportunities in a truly unique setting.
Carlsbad Caverns National Park
This incredible cave system encompasses 119 unique caves, including the truly well-named “Big Room.”
