The best Indiana parks

Visit an Indiana park this weekend

Visiting a park is a fun, affordable way to get out of the house and enjoy the beautiful summer weather. Having trouble deciding where to go? Here are our picks for the top three parks in Indiana.

Spring Mill State Park

This unusual state park features caves as its centerpiece, and a pioneer village with a working sawmill. Tour the village, then head underground for a boat tour of the caves. For fans of America’s space program, this park also has a tribute to astronaut Gus Grissom.

McCormick’s Creek State Park

Most people may not think of waterfalls when they think of Indiana, but McCormick’s Creek State Park has them in spades, and they are gorgeous. The park also has beautiful hikes through the surrounding canyons, and a trail through the fabulous Wolf Cave.

Mounds State Park

For history buffs, this park is a treasure. It features a series of earthwork mounds, which were created by the Adena-Hopewell people around 160 BC for religious reasons. In addition to these unique structures, the park also has hiking, picnicking, and camping available.
