Boston parks

The best parks in Boston

Parks are a great way to get out and enjoy our wonderful city without spending a lot of money. And you get fresh air and maybe some exercise, to boot! Here are our picks for the top three parks in the Boston area.

Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park

Surrounded by tons of fun things to do, restaurants to pick up a bite at, and frequently hosting live music, Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park always has something going on. This urban park is a great place to hang out for a little while and take a rest, or lace up your shoes for an urban hike.

The Esplanade

Situated right on the Charles, this is a great park for a lazy picnic watching the sailboats, and also shows free movies on Friday nights in the summer. The park also hosts tons of free fitness classes, including tai chi, running, and CrossFit.

Fort Independence Park

Situated around some of Boston’s most impressive history, you can take a tour of the original fort thanks to a bevy of volunteers. The location on Castle Rock offers a wonderfully peaceful sanctuary from the bustle of the city, and the park has undergone significant improvements and renovations in recent years.
