Washington Day Trips
With summer in full swing, this is a great time to get out and experience all of the amazing things that Washington has to offer. No need to pack a bag or take time off work, just make a day trip of it and have fun! Here are our top three picks for day trips in Washington.
Winter or summer, Mount Rainier is a great day trip. This beautiful mountain offers fun all year round, from skiing and snowboarding in winter, to hiking, biking, and picnicking in summer. Take a guided tour by a park ranger, or strike out on your own and experience some of Washington’s best wilderness.
Another great place for year-round fun is this charming little town, modeled on a Bavarian village. Although it is most famous at Christmas, Leavenworth is fun in summer, too. Browse the nutcrackers in the Nutcracker Museum, check out the shops, go antiquing, or head out to the Cascade foothills for some hiking and biking.
Another mountain destination, Mount St. Helens has some fascinating history and geography to boot. Check out the mind-boggling history of the mountain’s eruption at the main visitor’s center, soak in the view at the nearby Observatory, and enjoy the usual host of outdoor sports.
