The Great Carriage-Horse Debate – Less Stressful, Studies Say

There’s been a bit of a stink in NYC lately concerning the health of carriage horses. A group of animal activists are claiming that a horse in the streets of New York is subject to an amount of stress that borders on cruelty. So they want the horse-drawn carriage trade to be made illegal and the animals in question to be sent out to pasture. But new evidence suggests that living in the wilderness is actually worse for horses.

After testing stress chemicals in many horses, researchers came to their conclusion - when a horse is working, even in the city streets, they experience less stress. Apparently, being lazy doesn’t sit well with them. These new findings will certainly complicate the mayor’s plans to end horse carriages in New York, but will they be enough to let them stick around? Or will we see a mass horse-firing in the near future?
