Mariners Minor League Game Action Recap for August 18
I'm fleshing this out "for the record," since I know some of you catch up in batches, and maybe didn't notice that I didn't get the full recap in on Monday.
AAA -- Colorado Springs 5, Tacoma 2 -- Box
Andrew Carraway (Watch List) had a decent start, but got hurt by a couple unearned runs, and didn't get much offensive help: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K.
Tom Wilhelmsen came in for the 7th and 8th, and survived unscathed: 2.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.
High-A -- Lancaster 9, High Desert 3 -- Box
Stephen Landazuri (Talk40 #24) escaped from Lancaster, and it could have been worse: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K.
Then Matt Brazis (26intheMix) came in and gave up four more unearned runs.
Jabari Henry (26intheMix) had a single and a double.
Low-A -- Clinton 4, Kane County 2 -- Box
What's Your Vector, Victor? Heading up, for sure.
Victor Sanchez (Talk40 #12): 7.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K.
D.J. Peterson seemed to be fine, and played the whole game at third. He had an RBI single.
Short Season-A -- Everett 6, Eugene 2 -- Box
Lars Huijer is certainly making a case for being included in the upper tier.
Sunday: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K.
And the streak continued for Emilio Pagan: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K.
That'd be 22.1 IP without giving up a run.
Catcher Christian Carmichael (Watch List) and shortstop Lonnie Kauppila went deep.
Rookie -- Pulaski 5, Bluefield 2 -- Box
Wilton Martinez homered for the 10th time.
Aaron Barbosa had two singles and a walk.
AZL Rookie -- Mariners 3, Rangers 1 -- Box
Sharkie Alert!
Rehabbing Dylan "Sharkie" Unsworth (26intheMix): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K.
Then came Jeffeson Medina -- not "Jefferson" but "Jeffeson." Maybe he's funkier or colder, but we don't know if he's related to Yoervis. Anyway, Sunday: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K.
Cavan Cohoes got his first professional extra-base hit. Of course, he was drafted in 2011. He's slugging .187.
