Say Goodbye to NYC’s Last Classical Sheet Music Shop

Yet one more legacy of past days is falling by the wayside in NYC. Frank Music Company, a classical music store that has been around since 1937, will finally be closing its doors. It also happens to be the last shop devoted to classical sheet music left in the entire city.

The biggest reason that we’ve lost this treasure? Amazon, of course. It’s far easier (not to mention cheaper) for people to order their sheet music online, so that’s what they’re doing. In the process, this neglect has hurt the store and brought its bank account to the point of no return. It’s another of those things that people won’t miss until it’s already disappeared, a relic of times gone by. And it’s a sad sign of a city moving steadily into the future without regard to its history.
