Will Stewart Be Part of the Storm?
All signs point to yes

She might have been a New Yorker in her youth, but Breanna Stewart may soon call Seattle home. As April nears and the draft approaches, fans are wondering just how the Storm will be spending that coveted number one draft spot. Most fans who are paying attention can see the future clearly, though: Jenny Boucek and co have their eyes on a certain talent named Breanna Stewart.

Stewart is at the University of Connecticut, and she has led the team to championships three years in a row. She may make it an historic event with yet another win this year for a total of four. Stewart was selected as a part of the USA Woman’s Pan American Team, which was an historic event as well—only two high school players in history have ever had that honor. She also helped the US16, US17 and US19 bring home gold medals.

Steward is 6’4 and weighs 170 pounds. She plays forward/center and wears the #30 jersey. She was born on August 27, 1994. She’s been playing since childhood but started to really take the game seriously in the fifth grade. Some of her most notable achievements include the Wade Trophy, the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Performer three times, 2014 Consensus First Team All-American, 2014 Naismith Women's College Player of the Year, 2014 Consensus National Player of the Year and First Team All-American, and 2011 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year. That is just off the top; Stewart has been reigning in the accolades since high school and it’s only looking up for the young player.

Seattle Storm Head Coach Jenny Boucek has nothing but praise for the up and coming player. She says, “There are a lot of great players you don’t necessarily like to watch play. I love watching Breanna play. I love watching her interact with her teammates. I love her focus. I love the consistency of her demeanor and her poise and maturity. There are a lot of intangibles that go with her obvious talent that I really appreciate about her.” It would be hard to guess any other player the Storm would want more than Stewart this year.

Do you think the Storm will end up drafting Stewart or do you think another player has a better shot in April? You can check in with fan speculation on Facebook but the general consensus is that it will be Stewie.
