Wheat Kings Win Again
And it takes overtime for them to do it… again

Does anyone else feel like this record might be broken? We have definitely been here before, right? They might have been at home in Seattle but the Thunderbirds were not able to beat the What Kings on Tuesday night. They lost to the Brandon team with a very narrow margin once again, 3-2. This makes them ahead in the series, 3-0. While they are winning the WHL Championship, there are still more games to go and the Birds could still manage to win this entire series if they start winning by the next game.

The Wheat Kings have won both Game 1 and Game 2 in overtime by the score of 3-2 as well, so this is beginning to feel like a bit of déjà vu. Let’s hope that Game 4 looks incredibly different, and preferably in favor of the T-Birds!

During the first period of the game, Brandon scored the first goal of the night when Quenneville took a shot, assisted by Erkamps and McGauley. Seattle tied it up when Alexander True scored. Keegan Kolesar and Matthew Barzal made the assists on True’s shot. The Birds quickly took the lead when Kolesar scored the next shot, with assists from Barzal and Ethan Bear. Kolesar’s shot, however, was the final score the T-Birds would make during the evening. No scoring was had during the second period, and during the third, Brandon tied it back up when Quenneville scored yet again. McGauley and Duke had the assists. During overtime, Duke scored again, winning the game for the Wheat Kings. Wheaton had the assist on the shot.

The next game in the series will occur on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:05 at the Showare Center. It is a Whiteout Wednesday game, so the first 5,000 fans in attendance will get a free t-shirt. The white shirt will be a limited edition that you won’t find anywhere else so be sure to get your tickets! They are selling fast with a few hundred seats remaining.
