Details about #11

Playing Center position and shooting from the right, Kaden Elder hails from Saskatoon, Canada. Elder was born on March 16, 1998 and weighs 172 pounds. He is 5’9 and wears the Seattle Thunderbird’s  #11 sweater.

Elder is a relative newcomer to the T-Birds. He started his hockey career with the Notre Dame Hounds Bantam AAA Team in the Saskatchewan Midget AA Team in the 2012-2013 season.  During his time with the Hounds he had 64 points, with 27 goals and 37 assists.

He just joined the Thunderbirds during the 2013-2014 season, with Thunderbird manager Russ Farwell announcing his acquisition on August 29, 2013 along with Nolan Volcan, both of whom played at the Everett Silvertips Preseason Tournament. Elder said that signing a contract with the Thunderbirds was a big honor, as well as the first “big step” in his hockey career overall. He also said that while he knew he worked diligently as a rookie player, he still needed to work hard to earn his spot and further his career.

As the 22nd overall pick during the season, Elder was the Thunderbirds second first round selection. Farwell praised Elder as the team’s newcomer, highlighting his leadership skills as well as his proven track record of goals and skills with the Hounds previously. His first T-bird game occurred on January 3 of that season in a game against the Red Deer Rebels. Elder had no points registered during the year and went back to the midget team after two more games. Most of his 2013-2014 season was spent playing with the Notre Dame Argos in that league, during which Elder earned a total of 38 points with 13 goals and 25 assists.

With a total point value of 4, Elder has made two goals and two assists during his career as of 2015. He’s had a total of 5 PIM and 59 games played. Elder is also known for a fight he had with Jack Flaman on the ice at the Portland Winterhawks game on September 19, 2014. The fight can be seen several places online. Another claim to fame for Elder was one of the fastest three goals of the 2014-2014 season, a time of 5:57. Although he also played in every playoff game during that season, he did not register any points. Throughout the entire 2014-2015 season, Elder played in 50 games, earning a total of one goal, two assists and three points.
