Welcome Back to the Storm
Quanitra Hollingsworth Returns

Seattle Storm fans and general fans of the player herself, you are in for a treat: Quanitra Hollingsworth has signed on with the Storm again for the season! For new Storm fans, Hollingsworth plays center. She stands at 6’5 and weighs 200 pounds. She was born on November 15, 1988 and this will be her second year with the team, but her sixth year overall in the WNBA. Last season she averaged 3.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in the 27 games she appeared in. She is also no stranger to international teams, playing for Lithuania, Latvia and Russia.

Fans who are following Hollingsworth already know that she is averaging 9.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game right now while she plays for the Turkish team, Fenerbache. She recently took to Twitter to thank everyone for their support, using the hashtags #blessed and #dreamliveson regarding the news of her signing on again with the team.

In 2009, Hollingsworth was the ninth overall draft selection. She was drafted into the Minnesota Lynx from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she graduated the same year. She had entered college quite early at age 15. She racked up some impressive records in college, including the all-time leading rebounder and second all-time point scorer, with 1,114 rebounds and 1,523 in points overall. She played in 34 games with Minnesota, averaging 4.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, but then she was traded to New York during the 2011 season. She made her first playoff appearance with the team, running career averages of 4.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 31 games with the team.

In 2013 she traveled to Washington to play with the Mystics, but was not in as many games at that point due to her appearances in so many international teams. She was even on the Turkey Women’s National Team in the 2012 London Olympics. It is pretty awesome to have a team member so active on so many teams, demonstrating her skill on a global level and representing the Storm while she’s abroad. In addition to Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia and Russia, she has played for UNI Gyor, Hungary. In 2012, she even acquired Turkish citizenship to play for the team. Although she was invited to the USA Basketball U19 Team Trials in Colorado Springs in 2006-07, she did not play for the US team.

How do you feel about having Hollingsworth back for the season?
