Swagger
verb swag·ger \ˈswa-gər\

: to walk in a very confident way : to walk with a swagger : see Taijuan Walker as of 9/13/16

Kudos to Merriam-Webster.

Well, actually I added that last part.

Metaphor is a figure of speech that refers, for rhetorical effect, to one thing by mentioning another thing:

All the American League's a stage

And our Mariners merely players;

Having their way upon it.

          William Shakespeare, As SSI Likes It

Well, it's a little-known work by The Bard.

48 wins in a row will do that to a team and blog site.  Or 8 wins in a row when all seemed lost.  Take your pick.

The gears are all meshing, all the parts clicking, every decision the right one.  If Servais sat Cruz tomorrow and batted O'Malley clean-up have you any doubt that our man Shawn would spray out 3 doubles and steal a HR away from a 'Stro?

Or Servais sticks Dae-ho Lee at SS and we watch him go all Ozzie (not Osbourne, mind you) on every ground ball.  It would happen wouldn't it?

Mo-Men-Tum makes strange things happen.  Did you know that over  the past 7 days Cano is OPS'ing .579?  Yet we're running the tables.

Marte is hitting .307 over the last month.  Lee .357.  Holy snot, Sucre is 5-8 since coming back up. That's a marginal improvement on the .175 he was hitting for his career.  Sucre?  Sacre Bleu!!

Cishek was dead in the water not long ago.  Now he's going all Eck on the AL.

And just hours ago some folks were sure that Walker was done done done.  Now he's SandyCyBulldog Walker, thank you.  I won't name names, either.  OK...I jest.

But, like all of us, I'm in a jestful mood.  Heck, even the schedule goes Age of Aquarius and brings Toronto to town. Jupiter aligns with Safeco.

We even finish with 4 games against the Orcs.  The 19 games under .500 Orcs.  Sharpen up your Hobbit short swords, fresh meat is coming to town.

Doc has sometimes written about the stuff you can't SABR-matize.  We're watching something like that right now.  The sum is larger than the parts. Even Altuve tweaks an Oblique just before visiting Safeco.  Bregman is hobbled, too.  How does that happen at just EXACTLY the point that we're red hot and rolling and about to do the coolest Mariner thing since 2001?  I'm proposing that we just steal from the '69 Mets and start referring to the Miracle Mariners.

Giddy is a great adjective, isn't it?

I know; I really know!!  I should cool my jets.  There's games yet to be played.  "It ain't over 'til it's over," as Yogi would remind us.

But somehow it feels, at least for right now, that Clotho and her ugly sisters are cloaked in Navy Blue and Northwest Green.  Who are we mere mortals to argue with the Moirai?

What fates impose, that men must needs abide;

It boots not to resist both wind and tide.

              William Shakespeare, King Felix the Sixth

Ya gotta believe in The Bard.

I think the lack of words symbolized the shear amazing swagger you possess - such swag that you would show up here and post a blank page and expect us all to love it. :D

I believe I publicily gave up on the Mariners at the beginning of this month, thought they had dug themselves into too deep of a hole. Well the reality is I give up on them everytime they lose. The flip side of that is that I believe in them anew everytime they play decent ball. Last couple weeks they have climbed right out of that hole and look poised to bury some of those teams around them.

I never quite leapt into that pit, gnat....but I was sure looking over the edge and it didn't look so bad down there.  And I sure wrote about slim odds.

And I definitely want to see a ROOGY swap with Dae-Ho Lee going to any position other than 1B.  Office pool for the most entertaining; they'd all work.
