Stewart's First Pitch
Did you catch it?

On May 1, one of Seattle’s newest and coolest athletes headed to the Seattle Mariners’ game to throw the first pitch of the game. Breanna Stewart, AKA Stewie, threw the first pitch for the game as Seattle welcomed her with open arms. Stewie is the latest Seattle Storm member, the number one pick for the 2016 draft and the player that everyone wanted this year. Stewie is 6’5 and known for taking her college to the championship to win big every year, and now she is one of Seattle’s own.

The Storm has a bunch of excellent photos of the Wade trophy winner at the big event that you need to check out. Click on the link above to see Stewie looking strong, proud but most of all at home on the field in Seattle. There are pictures of her donning a Mariners jersey as well as practicing, warming up her pitch behind the scenes. She wore the #30 jersey for the game. She also spoke to ROOT Sports Northwest about her new career in Seattle before throwing the pitch. Between the Mariners and Storm mascots looking chummy together to Stewie standing solemnly with her hand over her heart for the “Star-Spangled Banner,” the pictures are just not to be missed.

Stewie signed fan autographs after throwing out the first pitch, and you can see a photo of a young fan looking pretty happy holding up her “Draft #1” sign that Stewie signed for her. You can also see a fantastic photo of Stewie enjoying the game, sitting in the seats with the rest of the Storm. It’s pretty rare to see photos of the women off the court, out of uniform and all together (save for a few players who were still playing overseas), and it’s a really great set of pictures that show the camaraderie of the Storm off the court. We can’t wait to see them work this season and put that dynamic on the court for the world to enjoy.

Of course, the Storm made the big screen while at the event as celebrity guests, so that was cool to see for the people attending the game. You can see all of the photos at the Storm website as well as other great galleries. You can use them for your desktop photos while you wait for some really amazing ones to be taken during the season this year.
