Stewart on Good Morning America
Catch her interview on video

Newly drafted WNBA member of the Seattle Storm Breanna Stewart made an appearance on Good Morning America this week, much to the excitement of her fans at both UConn as well as the Storm. She told the press that she could not have imagined a better WNBA draft than the one that she experienced last week. You can catch the whole interview online.

Stewart called the event “an unbelievable experience,” saying, “To be able to share it with my family and my friends, they were all so excited… And to be able to hold up that Seattle Storm jersey, I couldn’t have pictured it any better.” Stewart said that her recent victory with UConn, sealing an amazing four tournament championships in a row, was simply indescribable. She told the camera, “We made history.” Indeed they did, and most know that Stewart was a huge credit to the team during the tournament. Not surprisingly, all three of the top picks during the draft were from UConn, which is well known for its great women’s basketball program. Even so, four out of four championships in a row, from Freshman to Senior year, is quite an incredible feat to pull off.

Now Stewart will be able to shine on the Storm alongside players like legendary Sue Bird and last year’s number one draft pick and Rookie of the Year, Jewell Loyd. Could Stewart be the next Rookie of the Year for 2016? She certainly has a great shot at it given her history and her premier selection in the draft.

And Stewart also certainly has some awesome prospects ahead of her. Like Loyd, she’ll be talking with Nike about product endorsements, and she will surely be involved in plenty of other campaigns, awareness programs and other visibility events, both in the Seattle area as well as nationally. Breanna Stewart will become a household name soon enough if she isn’t already, and with the WNBA so heavily focused on promotions and really becoming more of a favorite national sport this year, it really is one of the best times to enter the WNBA.
Did you see Stewart’s interview on Good Morning America? What did you think? Her grandma actually had a pretty  fun day with the press this week as well. Do you already have your opening day tickets to see her first day in Seattle, and do you think that she will start on opening day?
