Spotlight on Jared Pelechaty
Meet the newest T-Bird

By now you’ve heard that the Seattle Thunderbirds have acquired yet another player, even while many fans are protesting that the team has allowed too much new blood to enter the arena already this season. Indeed, some fans are saying that the slump that the Birds have found themselves in is largely, if not fully, due to the lack of cohesion on the team. Whether it’s a lack of camaraderie, an inability to mesh well or something deeper, we don’t know for sure, but we also know that it’s not newbie Jared Pelechaty’s fault, either. So let’s welcome him aboard!

Pelechaty is filling in for injured players this season, according to Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell, who adds that the team is very happy to have him on board. “He has pushed hard to improve his game and we expect him to be ready to play for us at the start of next season. We also appreciate the understanding of Neepawa on our current situation and are thankful to them for letting Jared join us for five games at this point of the season.” That is a very good point regarding a player joining so late in the season, but hopefully Pelechaty can settle in with enough time to get to know the Birds and become a part of the team for the games he does participate in. Since he has been to two training camps with the Birds, Pelechaty will have a bit of experience under his belt, at least.

Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Pelechaty is a member of the Neepawa Natives in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. He has played 31 games with the team, scoring two goals and making four assists during his time with Neepawa. As a result, he has accumulated a total of six points in that time.

Born on January 12, 1992, Pelechaty is a defenseman. He is 17 years old and stands at 5’11. He weighs in at 170 pounds. He shoots left and prior to playing for the Neepawa Natives, he was on the Winnipeg Warriors City Midget Team as well as the Winnipeg Warriors Bantam AAA. Pelechaty made his first WHL goal with the T-Birds on February 8 during a game against the Kelowna Rockets. The Birds unfortunately lost that one.
