Smith has been with the T-Birds since the 2012 to 2013 season, during which he played in 71 games and scored one goal. He also enjoyed seeing the city and sights, calling New York “amazing.” To stay fit in the offseason, Smith says that he works out with fellow T-bird Shea Theodore.

Smith says that he hopes to really improve himself on the ice this season, particularly in the areas of speed and transitioning during the game. He also says the key to maintaining his good health is to eat healthy foods and complete routine stretches. He told interviewers that getting enough rest is also important in staying healthy on the ice.
