Barcelona hobbled
Their starting XI limps into the weekend as they chase Atlético

Barcelona, with all the success they have been experiencing this 2015-16 soccer season, still find themselves looking up in the standings. Atlético Madrid sit atop the league table, two points clear of los cules, although the Catalans have played one less game.

Even with that one extra game to make up the ground, Luis Enrique's men can not afford to slip up with the way Diego Simeone has his men playing in the capital. This weekend Barça travels down to Málaga, where they again will not be playing with their full attacking trio as Neymar is out to nurse his hamstring. However his injury has not been deemed serious, and him sitting out is only a precaution against further long-term injury advised by the medical staff.

Manager Luis Enrique really has no reason to not listen to team doctors as Barcelona never missed a beat while Leo Messi has out several weeks. What's more he has his full compliment of attacking players at his disposal. Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal have finally come into the fold this month as Barcelona's transfer ban has been lifted. And even though both have been sitting out without game action since last spring, both have inserted themselves seamlessly into the lineup.

Of the two new additions, Turkish international Turan is most likely the one to cover for Neymar. While at Atlético Madrid, he became a fan favorite for his hard nosed play. But now in Catalonia, he has become a favorite for his creativity and inclusive play.

In defense, Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba will not be counted on for the Málaga match. Alba too has been experiencing hamstring problems, epect Adriano or Sergi Roberto to take his place Saturday. Pique however is fit, but will have to sit out after being booked for a red card last match.

Atlético Madrid won't be traveling this weekend, instead staying home to host a dangerous Sevilla squad. They have already beaten Real Madrid and Barcelona this season. Atletí did win 3-0 when they played in Sevilla earlier this season. Still Sevilla is dangerous as they are on the cusp of a European tournament spot and always play the big teams tough.

If that wasn't enough, both Atlético and Barça play each other next weekend. Therefore this weekend is key for both teams if either wants to take advantage of their head to head next weekend.

With both neck and neck, it will be interesting to see if either adds anotehr player to put them over the top in this January transfer window.
