Say Hello to Damion Lowe
Meet Sounders defender #31

Although he was the third Jamaican selection during the 2014 MLS SuperDraft and the eighth pick overall, Damion Lowe has no stats with the Sounders to share just yet. A hip injury has kept him out of the spotlight to date. Fans did get a peek at Damion during the six preseason appearances he made, though. During those, he had three starts. While playing on loan for S2, Lowe made 11 appearances with the team, really getting a taste of what it is like to play with Seattle and enjoy the fan love in the city. He played for 990 minutes with S2, scoring one goal during that time.

During the 2015 season, Lowe went to U-23 camps for Olympian Qualifiers for the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship. Forward Oalex Anderson joined him. Lowe hails from Kingston, Jamaica. That’s also the same place he was born. His birthday is May 5, 1993. He wears the #31 jersey for the Seattle Sounders and weighs 175. He is 6’3 and is an international and Generation ADIDAS player.

Prior to being a Sounder, Lowe was a tri-captain at the University of Hartford. During his senior year with the Hartford Hawks, he started in every game he played and received multiple honors, including First Team All-America East, Second Team All-Northeast region and All-America East Tournament Team. He made five goals and two assists during the 2013 season. Lowe made a total of three appearances with the Jamaican team in 2013.

In addition to playing for the Hawks as a youth, Lowe played with Reading United in the USL-PDL. During his experience with Reading United, Lowe was able to join the All-Eastern Conference team. He scored a goal during his experience, appearing in a total of 10 matches during the regular season. Lowe went to Camperdown High School in Kingston.

A center back, Lowe is said to be following in the footsteps of his father, Onandi Lowe, who also played in Major League Soccer. Lowe says that being selected to play for the Sounders is a “dream come true” for him. He complimented the fan base when asked about the experience by the press. He also complimented Clint Dempsey, calling him a “great, great, great, great player,” and he thinks that the experience should be an overall positive experience.

The Sounders traded with Chicago in order to obtain Lowe. Lowe was 20 years old when the Sounders picked him up to play.
