KING Felix to you, Dept.

The postgame swoooon reached ever-greater heights after Felix beat Sale, as though that should be a big hurkin' surprise from your Hall of Famer.  It ain't.  Felix has been winning these kinds of pitchers' duels on the road forever.  Some pitchers are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.  Felix gets a gin rummy on those three things.

Personally thought he was only solid by his recent standards - by no means his best stuff.  Several "atom" balls made the box score look like Felix twirled a classic.  No, he scuffled, in his own terms.  Of course, his stuff was walking on sunshine, on a #3 starter's terms.

There was that moment early on when the trainers raced out ... did you see the postgame?  Felix said he "blacked out and couldn't feel my legs."  When I tell my own doctor that, he usually sends me out for six more innings.

Ay caramba, this man is great.  My personal Mt. Rushmore is Junior, Edgar, Unit, Felix and Ichiro.  Who were the original five HOF'ers again?  Could we get some comps done here?  Wouldn't there be a lot of similarities in a 5-for-5?  Ichiro with Cobb, Junior with Ruth, Unit with Walter Johnson, Edgar with that nice guy who played for the Pirates, Felix with Christy Mathewson.  'course those might not be the right five guys, from memory.  'tain't the point.  Seattle baseball has seen some beauties, and is still seeing them.

ELECTRIC EDDIE

Had a few games where he lost his release point.  Saved the games anyway.  Tonight he got his release point back.  The enemy hitters got their humiliation back.  Some rookies, you know they're going to be able to adjust and adjust back.  Griffey '89 was that way:  if he got into a little slump, the question was merely WHEN he'd fix it.

(The specific fix here, he said, was not rushing his body to the plate, but gathering his weight better.  This makes sense, since he was high and wide armside for a few games.)

He's only got 69 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.  Which, for reference's sake, is the same total* that Jered Weaver has in 144.0 innings.
