Arenaball ... Fizzlers
need 4 more arena ball games in Canada, boys

.

With 16 hits and 9 runs Tuesday, followed by 16 hits and 10 runs Wednesday, there's not going to be a lot here.  But as y'know, we live to serve.

.

THE DESIGNATED HITTER

Didn't get to join the festivities.  Well, he came in for one play, lining a single up the center.

.

RYAN WEBER

Threw his 6th consecutive nice game at Tacoma, then watched Sam Giviglio - the one starter with fewer K's than he had -- join the luxury towers at Safeco.  The probables are now De Jong - Bergman - TBA - Miranda - Gallardo.  I guess this is their comment that Weber's approach won't translate to Toronto.

.

HISASHI IWAKUMA

Had been pitching with pain in his shoulder.  Pretty gutsy outings, then, huh?  Maybe with a couple of months he can re-join Smyly in July and it will be at 2015-16 proficiency levels.

M's CATCHING POSITION

Dr. D has not given completely up on Mike Zunino but it is getting kind late for the types of garbage swings he is taking.  We heard that Carlos Ruiz is the oldest player in baseball (?) and Tuffy Gosewisch is a 33-year-old defensive specialist.  Who's next on this list?

We actually hit the last-7 days stats for a whipping boy but not one single Mariners has an EYE worse than 1:1, and several are at 4 BB to 2 K, 5:2, and so forth.  Two guys are at 0:3 and 0:4 - Tuffy and Ruiz.  We did notice 9 RBI for Valencia this week, 8 for Bamel, and 7 for Robby.  Hold it, that doesn't belong in this post.

Bat571 suggests a trade, perhaps even a trade of our glitzy OF's.  Hmmmm.

.

CTL RATIO CULPRITS

Only two Mariners had unsightly BB:K ratios this week:  Jean Machi and HWMNBN.  On the other hand, James Paxton's ratio still gorgeously leads the M's, as does Mitch Haniger's WAR.

.

DILLON OVERTON

Bowed and yielded the SP slot to Chase De Jong despite a 6:2 to 6:5 CTL edge and a 1.29 to 1.58 WHIP advantage.  Well, if you don't like the rotation weather, wait two days.

Any trade for Hicks (or any other C) should be from the MiLB guys (Ian Miller, Chuck Taylor, Blog Powell, Braden Bishop) NOT any of the Hanigameredia group or Motter. If Detroit still needs CF help, maybe they'd want Martin (getting his stroke in Tacoma?) or Dyson over Powell, but I probably would not give up O'Neill either.

For Hicks, I would think even with his high BABIP-driven hitting numbers that one of the CF PROSPECTS and an arm (Herb?) could get something moving, unless, of course, Detroit figures Hicks is too valuable for the moment as Miggy insurance.

Remember also that Hicks made his MLB debut at 3B - and he can still pick up an SB from time to time. Long-term, he's a perfect bench complement to Motter.

...you are going to have to give up more than a bottle of rye.

I would prefer to give up Marteen or Powell or Volksenburger ... but, how "decent" a guy do you want?

If you want someone that can frame, call games, and manage .250 or better at the plate, you are going to have to find a budget based club that has someone about to pop a big contract number or is absoluely blocked.

I was ready to cry, sigh, or take a good poke in the eye last year when they didn't go after Lucroy.

Supposedly the Jays have been trolling for what's out there with R. Martin's shoulder situation not closely defined.

G. Money was on the money when he said Zunino's time here is done done.

Each year the babysitting has failed.

Neither Edgar or Brosius can get anything to stay stuck in his brain.

Get something while you still might be able to.

Here's another two step trade for DePoet ... depose Zunino for ???? just to move him and replace him the next day with ???

But, you're going to have to give up one of the talented OF's (or Motter for that matter) to do so.

Notice that DePoet said yesterday they are gonna ride with the SP's.

That translates to "Surprise".
