Playoff Shutout
Bow pulls it off again!

On Tuesday night at the CN Centre, the Seattle Thunderbirds were on fire as they took on the Prince George Cougars for the third game of the first round of playoff games. It was the Birds’ third win in three playoff games, but this was also another shutout in which Bow blocked all 27 shots by the Cougars, earning his first playoff shutout in his career. The offense, in turn, ended the game with a score of 5-0. As you know, the Birds only need the best of seven games to win against the Cougars, so one more game and they win the series.

Nick Holowko made the first goal of the evening during the first period with assists from Matthew Barzal and Keegan Kolesar. Barzal attempted the first goal of the night but broke his stick, much to the awe of the audience. There was simply no denying that the young men were completely in this game. Keegan Kolesar brought the score up to 2-0 during the same period with an assist from Holowko. Bow saved eight goals during this period.

In the second period, Alexander True scored a goal with a power play, with assists from Ethan Bear and Jerret Smith. Bow saved 12 shots. During the third period, Bow saved 14 shots. Cavin Leth scored the first goal of the third period with an assist from Andreas Schumacher. Leth scored yet another goal afterward, this time with an assist from Scott Eansor. It was nice to see some of the players who aren’t normally in the spotlight scoring, sometimes left and right, during a playoff game. Fans were calling Leth in particular a beast after he rejoined the team following an injury with even more hunger for the win than ever. Leth is definitely one to watch that crept up on us throughout the season.
