He is a midfielder for the Seattle Sounders. Marco Pappa is an international player from Guatemala City, Guatemala. He stands at 5’10 and weighs 155 pounds. Pappa wears the #10 uniform. He was born on November 15, 1987 and his full name is Marco Pablo Pappa Ponce. He has been a domestic player since June 2015 when he received his green card.

Pappa joined the Sounders team on January 31, 2014. During his regular seasons, he has played in 161 games. He started in 142 games and played a total of 11,830 minutes. He has scored 35 goals during the regular season. He has taken 386 shots, made 27 assists and received no red cards, but he did receive 18 yellow cards. Since joining the Sounders, he has played in 49 games, starting in 41 of them. He’s made nine goals for the team during the regular season.

Sounders sporting director Chris Henderson said that Pappa is an established, productive player who is continually adaptive on the field. He also called Pappa exciting and a person with high-character, indicating that he is a good fit for the team.

He started his career in 2004 with Municipal at the age of 16. He played with them for his youth career until 2006 when he started his senior career with Municipal. He went on loan to Chicago Fire from 2008 to 2009, then went on to play for Chicago Fire officially from 2010 to 2012. From 2012 to 2014, he played for Heerenveen. Since 2014, he’s been with the Sounders.

In July, Pappa was suspended from playing with the team for driving under the influence and speeding. As with any player faced with these charges, he had to be assessed by MLS’ Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program. He was cleared to return to playing with the team in August. Pappa completed all required counseling, General manager Garth Lagerway said to the press, and the team supports him.
