Seahawks to look at for your fantasy teams this week

If you have to play or pick up any Seahawks for your fantasy team this week, you have more than a few decent choices to plug in, especially at tight end. By now, probably the second tier tight ends many didn’t see coming have already been picked up, a la Tyler Eifert and Kyle Rudolph. And with the injuries to Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski last week, a lot of you are probably looking for replacements.

On the Seahawks, because of Jimmy Graham’s injury, we should see some other players step up and earn you some fantasy points. A couple of these could even fly under the radar, especially if you’re playing against a casual fan, or someone from out of town that doesn’t pay much attention to Seattle’s receiving threats.

If you need to pick up someone, here are a few Seahawks to take a look at.

Doug Baldwin

He’s not rated very high among wide receivers on the fantasy experts’ charts, and for good reason. Angry Doug doesn’t put up big numbers week to week, but he is Russell Wilson’s go to guy. Has been for the past couple years now. And last week we saw him go off and catch five touchdown passes.

The Vikings are pretty stout in terms of receiving yards; they don’t give up many and rank seventh in the league in passing yards allowed, per Pro Football Reference. However, they rank 17th in passing touchdowns given up with opposing teams getting 26 touchdowns through the air against them. With Russell Wilson’s new found improvement on third down and in the red zone, expect him to be looking Doug Baldwin’s way more often than not when inside the 20.

Plus with Graham out, Russell won’t feel the need to get one person the ball before others, if he ever felt it before.

Luke Willson

This should be an easy one. Jimmy Graham is out, and the next man up is Willson. He did a nice job filling in for Zach Miller when Miller went down for the season in Week 3 last year, and he has the tools you want in a pass catching tight end.

Willson has the speed to break away from defenders, and has the rapport and trust of Russell Wilson to make plays. We saw it in the 80-yard TD pass against the Cardinals in Arizona last year. Willson took a simple slant and ran it maybe 60+ yards to the end zone, leaving defensive backs in his wake.

Thomas Rawls

Rawls is the man the rest of the way out. Predictably he didn’t have another monster game against Pittsburgh like he did against San Francisco. But we can chalk that up to the Hawks needing to resort to the passing game in order to keep pace with Big Ben absolutely torching our secondary.

Rawls still had a decent game, with 81 yards and a TD, and tomorrow against a Vikings D that ranks 25th in rushing yards allowed, expect another decent if not big day from T Raw.

There you have it. Good luck in your leagues tomorrow, and of course go Hawks!
