Rawls a revelation
Here's to hoping Thomas Rawls is Beast Mode's successor

Maybe calling Thomas Rawls a revelation is jumping the gun, but he sure looked good on Sunday. For years now the Seahawks have been looking to groom an eventual replacement for Marshawn Lynch but have failed, as proven by letting Robert Turbin and Christine Michael go. But judging by the early returns with Rawls, they may have hit undrafted gold yet again.

In the preseason Rawls was one of the NFL’s leaders in yards from scrimmage, but was dismissed as many said, “yeah but that’s preseason.” Though when given a chance against the Bears, he showed he at least has the potential to do it when games matter.

Granted it was against a Bears team that doesn’t figure to do much this year, but Rawls’ running style that tell us maybe, just maybe he might be the running back of the future.

His patience, waiting for holes to open up and then attacking them up field was similar to how Tyler Lockette hits his running lanes on returns. Combine that with him not shying away from contact and running north and south, he fits the team’s attitude to a T.

Lynch is said to be 50/50 for the Monday Night Football game against Detroit, another team struggling to stop the bleeding. For all intents and purposes it looks like Rawls could get another shot, again at home and against one of the league’s weaker teams. He might not have to get 104 yards on 16 carries again, but it’s shaping up to be another perfect storm for Rawls to put his talents on display, and on national television.

Pete Carroll seems to be fired up about Rawls as well, calling him one of  “his guys.” Then again Carroll was fired up about Christine Michael also, but Michael never was a downhill runner let alone rushed for 100 yards in a game.

Lets hope we get to see more Rawls in the coming weeks, it could work out well for Marshawn, easing his workload and maybe giving him more energy to pull off another Beast Quake-esque play come winter.

If Rawls does play on Monday night and performs, we all know that Marshawn will definitely come back later this season with even more attitude.

This second half run from him in last weeks game told me a lot about the man.  Great vision to feel the openness on the left side, the quick burst to round the corner, but my favorite part is the attitude he shows by delivering a punishing hit to the db instead of just continuing his angle out of bounds.

Rawls didn't have a great MNF game, but I agree his running style is a lot of fun to watch. It's exactly what this team will need post Beast Mode.
