Hawks look on to improving the offensive side of the ball

After addressing many gaps on the defensive side of the ball, the Hawks are now making moves to address the offense.

Step one included getting a good discount price on receiver Jermaine Kearse. CHECK!

Kearse recently vowed to give no hometown discount to the team, and could have probably cashed in on a large contract with the league increasing the cap this season.

Instead, Kearse will make 13.5 million dollars in the next three years in Seattle, which he should be more than happy with. It helps to stay with a contender in an area he knows and loves. He also gives, recently newly engaged, Russell Wilson (and fans) a familiar target  to feel comfortable about.

Now onto the area of most concern: OFFENSIVE LINE

Russell Okung has said a return to Seattle is still in the cards, but he has continued his tour de NFL with a visit to Detroit. Friday, Okung spent the day with the Giants without making a deal. It is not likely he will until he has visited anyone and everyone he can.

The Seahawks have done their due diligence as well, and have been linked to all the other remaining great left tackles to replace Okung if he does go. This has included Donald Penn and Kelvin Beachum

Beachum visited the Jets Friday and is scheduled to meet with the Hawks Monday. He has started 39 games with the Steelers in 4 seasons, but is coming off an ACL injury. Despite, he would be their number one option, behind Okung. Penn would be their third option as he is a shorter term option at 33 years old. (Beachum is 27)

To fill in some other O-line gaps, the Seahawks are looking at some cheaper options as well. J'Marcus Webb told Sirius XM that he has an interview lined up with the team soon. Webb started all 16 games for the Raiders last season, and has some flexibility playing both left guard and left tackle.

Bradley Sowell is also expected to visit. He played his last three seasons in Arizona, but has not started a game since 2013. He is still young at 26, but given his recent starts, or lack their of, he looks more like a player for both depth and development.

The team is not looking outside of Seattle to fill all of their gaps however. After losing J.R Sweezy Wednesday, to the Tampa Bay Bucs, the Hawks will look to second year Mark Glowinski. Glowinski will have pretty big shoes to fill after being drafted in the fourth rd last year. Sweezy started  49 games in 4 seasons with Seattle after transitioning from playing defense in college.

The team could look to bring in another veteran to compete at the position, but chances are Glowinski starts.

Either way, this is the tip other iceburg for lineman that will visit Seattle. Going into last season this was a need not addressed. The season highlighted just why, as the line started poorly from game one's loss to their last loss in the playoffs. It was clearly the team's Achilles heel from start to finish, and may have cost them another Superbowl opportunity.
