Seattle Times:  Did the Seahawks Pass Too Much?

Dr. D would remind yer that when Peyton Manning was a free agent, Pete Carroll was all over that scenario.  Ergo, he's not against throwing the ball down the field if that's the way to win.  By "if that's the way to win" we mean, "If you've got NFL-caliber receivers."  

True, he's partial to running because it's "tough."  And because it keeps the other team "in front of" the Seahawks, as it were ... "in front of them" like wrestlers want, not "in front of them" like their having 11 more points than us.  

As we all know, scoring 7 points in the first half this Sunday night is not going to keep the Packers in front of us.  And we confidently assure you that Carroll is even more partial to winning than he is to being macho.

The Times essentially agrees with Dr. D's nonchalance about the run/pass ratio, even saying we should have "thrown it one more time" (HEH!).

Seahawks Draft Blog:  Are We Edging Closer to a Kam Trade?  Must be the trend.  Headlines with question marks.  Dr. D approves of this moderated worldview.  He hopes none of you have been watching him throw hands in futile debates on other sites.  It's embarrassing.  For them, obviously, but also that valuable SSI shtick time would be spent in such a senseless pursuit.

Anyway, Dr. D has to /cosign this Kam article also.  The gist is, you don't want Chancellor's "shadow" hanging over the squad.  Would it be encouraging further holdouts for the Seahawks to powerflush this egomaniac Brother of Love?  GM's will tell you that as a general principle, you're giving the player his way.  However, SSI questions whether it is specifically true whether a star defensive player yearns to move from CLink to, say, Cleveland.  We guess not.

In any event, it sounds like the Seahawks are narrowing their eyes here.  They seem to see it as a deterrent to let Chancellor twist in the wind all year.  Who's to say them nay.

P-I:  Carroll Says Chancellor wasn't the Problem in St. Louis.  I'm sure it's true that there were "lots of reasons" that Foles had a 4,322 passer rating for the game.  Without a doubt there were things like Bobby Wagner failing to close on a short ball, and without a doubt some of these things will be remedied next week.

But Carroll's protest "we had lots of opportunities to win" made Dr. D's stomach do a slow roll to the left.  Re-phrase in coach-speak would be "We can win with a lousy defense."

I like the idea of Sherman throwing a *RADIATION POISONING DO NOT ENTER* over a full third of the field.  He likes this because it's a step sideways-right for Earl Thomas at the snap, and in top-flight sports, one step sideways is the ballgame.  Also, it's fun watching bizarre things happen in sports, like the best QB who ever lived (Aaron Rodgers) target a cornerback zero times.

We're confident that Pete Carroll will make changes only where he sees the possibility of getting even better.  What's better than a 47 passer rating against a corner?  Let's find out.
