911 What's Your Emergeny?
Yes hello, Kam is trying to buy our gym...

Kam Chancellor is in the news again this off season. Thankfully, this time it is not due to a lengthy holdout.

The news initially was not too good after getting 911 called on himself. One article headline read like a transcript from the call in which he was called "trouble" by the caller. Reading ahead in nervous anticipation of Kam being the newest off-season legal trouble, I quickly was able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Boy was I quickly calmed when the reason for the 911 calm was revealed, yet at the same time I was angered.

On a trip to Richmond, Washington Kam was looking into local gyms he was thinking about purchasing. He was looking to ask some questions to people inside a particular establishment that was up for sale when the police were called. Those inside refused to answer their questions or even approach the door before calling 911.

There are many ways to look at this, but unfortunately race certainly played a role. Rather than approaching the locked doors of the gym, the occupants quickly reached for the phone. Quicker inspection would have found that not only Kam and his friends meant no harm, but they were both 1. Trying to help the business by potentially taking it off their hands and 2. A group that included an NFL superstar.

Instead they were quickly labeled bad news and had the police called to check them out.

Now certainly their are two sides... Sure a number was morentgan likely posted to call to inquire into the property. Maybe it was a bit over the top to try and ask questions of those inside, but the people in the establishment diid not even give it a chance.  From Kam's take on things...they simply stayed inside way behind a desk saying they were going to call authorities.

In the end, I am sure they felt very dumb and have an embarassing story with alot of questions to answer from townfolk. The cops did come to investigate and find a star NFL player was simply trying to buy a property in the town. Kam and his friends  were asked few questions before the ordeal was quickly resolved.

The town's mayor went to Twitter inviting Kam back. He offered to buy him lunch and take him around to a few potential properties.

The owners of the gym stuck by the employees for their decision, but did say Kam was more than welcome to get in touch with them on a potential sale.

I am going to wager that Kam opts to try a different town to take his business too, and for that I can not blame him. Hopefully those involved from Richmond can learn something from the unnecessary exchange....

And again, THANKFULLY, Kam is on the good side of news this off-season.
