New Partnership with Verizon
WNBA and Verizon pair up

It won’t be long before WNBA fans start seeing new sponsorships on the team jerseys. Those images will reflect the new partnership between the WNBA and Verizon. The marketing plan will also feature the Verizon name highlighted in broadcasts and other marketing ploys. In exchange, the WNBA will be lending a hand in the production end of the WNBA Tip-Off, the WNBA Playoffs, and the WNBA Finals. They will also be featured in the WNBA Draft, the WNBA Inspiring Women Luncheon and other events.

Verizon will be creating a few new things for the WNBA to share as well. Some of these, like the WNBA Top 20 Moments presented by Verizon media, will serve to both highlight the progress and history of the association while simultaneously attracting new fans. Much of the work seems to stem from new WNBA President Lisa Borders, who is a marketing guru. Borders says, “We’re excited to tip off our landmark 20th season with Verizon, an iconic brand and industry leader. This marquee partnership will enable Verizon and the WNBA to not only celebrate our continued growth, but also to connect fans to the game they love through new and creative opportunities.”

Will the Storm be wearing new Verizon logos on their uniforms as well? Absolutely. In fact, all 12 teams are expected to feature the new branding on the front of their jerseys. We just won’t get to view the new look until WNBA Tip-Off 2016, which will be on May 16 this year. From May 14 through May 22, there will be home openers for each team and fans will have to wait and see the new branding then

Other changes that fans can expect to see through this partnership include courtside signage featuring the Verizon company, in-game advertisements, telecasts featuring Verizon, promotions, cross-channel marketing… As most fans are surely thinking, hopefully the WNBA is getting a pretty penny for such a huge marketing deal.

What do you think of the new partnership? Do you think it will be beneficial to the WNBA? If you haven’t bought your opener tickets yet, there is still plenty of time to do so. Be sure to take advantage of the 2016 Pick N Roll Digital Access Passes to decide which games you want to choose at which level of seating. When you buy a bundle of seats at any level, tickets start at $25. Gold levels include VIP and buffet access.
