Moss' Age and Atta 'Tude (2)

9.  Reggie Wayne, at 32, has 600+ yards in his first 6 games for Peyton Manning this season.

.

10.  Isaac Bruce had a big year at 34, and has been workmanlike the last three ... hardcore football fans will have to tell you, how much that was because of his teams.

.

Other aged WR's include Charlie Joiner, excellent at 38 ... Tim Brown, a star at 36, retired at 39 ... James Lofton starred in our Strat-O-Matic leagues in the late 70's; he was real good at 36, retired at 39...

Still, a lot of other guys I remember as being stars at 36, now that I look at them, they had declined to "good" by then or even to "not good."  Not many guys take Jerry Rice's or Terrell Owens' career arcs.

.

Q.  Leaving us where?

A.  Watching Moss play, his hands and glide and so forth, I guess I'd be more comfortable playing for his age 34 and 35 seasons.  Although he certainly could be an impact player at least as long as T.O.

He's 33 now, so 33-34 and 35 would interest Dr. D greatly.

.

Q.  Can Carroll afford him in the locker room?

A.  You've got to recognize that the Vikings blew off a high draft pick to get him out of the locker room.

Carroll -- like Wakamatsu in 2009 -- by all accounts, has his players buying in.  Huge.  And that could be fragile.

But getting crushed 33-3 also risks your buy-in.  There are no guarantees with anything.

..........................

Carroll is going through players like Biggest Loser dropouts going through flapjacks on all-you-can-eat day at IHOP.  Pete Carroll is not going to stand still for 33-3 losses.  Getting some yardage on offense is #1, if he wants to maintain buy-in.

.

Q.  Could Carroll talk to Moss?

A.  SSI take is:  get Moss the football, and he'll be fine.

He wasn't necessarily being petulant (only) in Minnesota.  You ever play on a team where the play-calling really did ruin the team?

Know what I mean?  You ever go through that?  Where they'd rather lose, than call your number?

Moss said something.  I have zero problem with that.  It's a free country.

When Moss says anything these days, it's about wanting to catch passes and win.  Give him that, and he's a great guy, apparently.

.

Q.  Could they get the ball to Moss?

A.  Hey, gimme Okung, Lynch and Moss and ---- > I think I can clear three hours on Sunday.

.

Cheerio,

Dr D
