Way More on Prospect Hitters
Additional explanation of how I picked Nick, including spreadsheets!

Commenter Cary asked for some more explanation as to how we picked Nick Franklin as our Hitter of the Year So Far, so we gave him some.

Probably more than he bargained for.

And spreadsheets, even!

Really great, Spec.  It's a terrific tool.
As a weird experiment I ran the numbers for Jesus Montero, using only his AB's vs. LHP from '10-'14.  All of those were AAA or MLB from ages he was 20-24, except for a very few Rookie ball AB's during '13.
HR = 4.8%     BB = 9.6%     XB+BB = 20.0%     ISO = .233     K = 16.6%     He bests the desired rate in each category
What kind of PSA+, Conv+ and Comp numbers does that run to?
I trust that it shows that he's the MLB mashing (vL) prospect (at or below Age Arc) that the M's refuse to use.
