Three-part Sunday rewind
Maurer: up (and interesting); Barkeep: down (and away); Everyone else: same (unfortunately)

  • Brandon Maurer with confidence and a new way of "triangulating" the hitter?  It's interesting, and it was pretty cool for four innings.

  • Tom Wilhelmsen with no confidence and not interested in throwing strikes?

  • Missing: Cano's doubles.  Reward.

  • Jordan Pries climbing solidly onto the radar.

Nice write-up on Maurer. I hope he can sustain it and stretch out over more innings. We need it, and for Maurer, it's far more hopeful than how 2013 turned out for him both in the majors and in Tacoma. He was looking like a total flame-out, and very few counted him at all in the rotation discussion. It's nice to see Pries rising to the AAA challenge. Given the string of injuries and bad pitching, I would not be surprised to see him soon. A little pressure from competition within the org might be more effective than Mac's berating. Hey, whatever works.
