So What the Heck Happened to the Mariners Offense in July?
It took us half of August to write it all up!

I said on my site that I was going to do less daily stuff and more in-depth things, and here I come to prove it despite all good sense by blugeoning you over the head with in-depth things.

Now that everyone has pleasantly forgotton the torment of July ...

  • ... a whole analysis of what exactly happened in July.

===

Spoilers:

  • It wasn't singles, or doubles, or triples, or walks, or strikeouts.

  • 90% of the hitters that produced 4.2 runs-per-game in June were there for the 2.9 runs-per-game July.

  • The new 10% was supposed to make things better.  Hint: they didn't.

  • The was also bad luck, and a collective aversion to hitting the ball hard in the air.
