Mariners Minor League Game Action Spotlight for July 17
Victor's vector is nearly perfect ... hey, now, you're an all-star (did I really just use that as a headline?)

Low-A -- Clinton 1, Lansing 0 -- Box

What's Your Vector, Victor?  Allllllllmost perfect!

Victor Sanchez (Talk40 #12) was very close to a perfect game, but still came out with one of the best performances you'll see from a pitcher:

9.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K

Sanchez hit a batter in the 1st, and the Lugnuts got a couple of baserunners on errors in the 8th, but that was it.

The 18-year-old, of course, is the youngest player on the LumberKing roster, and pitching on the Felix/Taijuan kind of advanced schedule.

But obviously he's taking it all in stride with just eight walks for the entire season (63.2 IP for 1.1 BB/9).  Among starters, only Dylan "Sharkie" Unsworth (26intheMix) has him beat in that regard.  [In the majors, the only starter with a lower rate than that is Adam Wainwright.  Sure, we'll take that.]

Clinton clearly didn't need much offense, which was good since they didn't get much.  Janelfry Zorrilla walked and eventually came home on a wild pitch for the difference-maker in the 6th.

AAA All-Star Game

Carlos Peguero (Watch List) entered the game as the Pacific Coast League right fielder in the 6th, but only got one plate appearance.  He walked.

The Tacoma pitching representative was Brian Moran (Talk40 #35).  He pitched the 5th inning, and quickly got two strikeouts before giving up a single.  He retired the side with a popup and was done for the night.

By the way, Futures Game MVP Matt Davidson (high school teammate of Taijuan Walker (Talk40 #2)) won the AAA home run derby.

Southern League All-Star Game

Well, the North all-stars only got one hit -- that's pretty unusual for an all-star game.

But, good news for Jackson Generals fans, the only one to break through was James Jones (Watch List), who got a double.

Roenis Elias (26intheMix) was the second pitcher on the mound for the North, and he gave up a pair of hits, but got two strikeouts no runs scored.
