Mariners Minor League Game Action Recap for July 17
E-RAM supercharges Everett ... Kivlehan goes deep twice ... Tank keeps rolling ... etc.

Short Season-A -- Everett 7, Vancouver 6 -- Box

This game goes to the top because of the starter: once and future Mariner Erasmo Ramirez.

5.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 10 K

Yeah, I think he handled the younger guys all right.

Shannon Drayer reports that e-RAM The Electric Supercharger will be back in the MLB rotation next Tuesday.

But the bullpen struggled and so the Aqua Sox needed some offensive punch to preserve a winning cushion, and it was Justin Seager helping deliver it with a home run (his second), plus a walk.

High-A -- Lake Elsinore 10, High Desert 8 -- Box

The Mavericks couldn't keep up in this one, despite a big night for the Kivle-fans.

Patrick Kivlehan (Talk40 #33) got two home runs (his fifth and sixth overall) plus a walk.  And he was joined in the longball category by Daniel Paolini (Talk40 #26), who got his 16th, and also by Anthony Phillips (his sixth).

Rookie -- Johnson City 12, Pulaski 5 -- Box

This one got out of hand when the Cardinals turned a 3-2 edge into an 11-2 margin with an eight-run 6th.

But the P-Mariners had some strong offensive showings: both Isaiah Yates (Talk40 #39) and Jeffrey Zimmerman delivered a double plus two singles each.

Ramire Cleto gave up three earned runs, but had an impressive seven strikeouts and no walks in 5.0 IP.

AZL Rookie -- Padres 10, Mariners 9 -- Box

There was a lot of scoring in the "Peoria Complex Rivalry" Wednesday.

Jesus Montero got two singles and a walk.

The Tank Tyler O'Neill had two doubles and a walk of his own.

And his Canadian running mate Lachlan Fontaine had a pair of hits as well.  Fontaine is 3-for-7 in his first three games.

Rehabbing Jordan Shipers (26intheMix) was the starter: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K.

Tuesday: Short Season-A -- Everett 11, Vancouver 6 -- Box

Didn't do a post for just one game, but it was noteworthy that Stephen Pryor took the mound for Everett: 0.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K.  He gave up a homer and a couple of singles.

He was quite ineffectively relieved by Thyago Viera, who not only let Pryor's two baserunners score, but then gave up five walks and two earned runs of his own.

D.J. Peterson collected three singles, and Austin Wilson had a double, a single and a walk.

Looking Ahead

All-Star Breaks are over.  Brandon Maurer (Talk40 #9) takes to the hill for Tacoma, and smokin' hot Edwin Diaz (Talk40 #36) will get another turn for Pulaski.
