From the Orioles side, I'm hearing their interest was based on the assumption that they could get Franklin in a deal centered around Zach Britton and the talks pretty much died there. I think Eduardo Rodriguez would make a lot of sense from both sides, but not sure that's something either team would pursue. Gausman's definitely not going anywhere, especially for Franklin - he's their crown jewel, probably less likely to be traded than Davis or Machado. Tim Berry is a prospect not mentioned in your article who seems to be getting mentioned in a lot of trade rumors.
Still think Franklin ends up going to the Mets. Suspect they're too cheap to sign Drew, and Boras really throwing down the pressure on their SS situation. Franklin is their only way out.

IFF the Ms decide to trade Nick - this is what I think they should be asking for now --
Detroit --- Drew Smyly
Tampa Bay --- Chris Archer
New York (NL) --- Rafael Montero + Juan Lagares
Baltimore --- Eduardo Rodriguez + 2 of Mike Wright/Branden Kline/Tyler Wilson/Tim Berry
If the D'Backs are asking for Rafael Montero and Kevin Plawecki for Chris Owings or Didi Gregorius, it looks like a MI who can hit with some power should be at a good premium. Even if the Ms have to add a Pimentel or Guerrero or Noriega or Triunfel to one or another of these, it would be good return. Not one of these, though, gives the Ms the assured best player in the deal. Nick is going to be very, very good. But there's simply not a reasonable place for him on the Ms if they can get this kind of return.
I suspect this will be much like when the Ms and Yanks swapped Pineda for Montero with a balance guy on each side - but, hopefully, this will work out better for both sides.
