Landon Bow Gets Goalie Recognition
Nominated for goaltender of the week

With the Seattle Thunderbirds on such a fantastic winning streak lately, the team goalies were sure to get some recognition sometime. During the week of Feburary 28, 2016, goaltender Landon Bow was nominated for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. This marks the third time this season that Bow was nominated for the award. His first nomination occurred during the first week of November when he was still playing for the Swift Current Broncos. He was also nominated during the first week of January while playing for the T-Birds.

During this nomination, Bow boasted stats of 2-0-0-0. He had a 1.00 goals against average and a .962 save percentage for the week, including a shutout game. The shutout, a 2-0 game against the Everett Silvertips, sealed his fan support in Seattle, as the team has been struggling to beat the Tips all season long. Prior to that, he blocked 27 shots during the game against the Tri-City Americans, leading the team in a 4-2 victory. His overall standing for his career is at 67-56-8-5 with a total of 14 shutouts. Low has made 153 appearances.

Taz Burman, the goalie whom Landon Bow replaced last fall, was also nominated for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week Award during the first week of February. Burman took Bow’s place as goalie for the Swift Current Broncos. As cool as that is for both young men, it would also be nice for Flodell to receive a bit of recognition: the T-Birds goalie has had not only several great games lately, but also his first shutouts this season. Fans took to social media to praise both young men on their goaltending skills. Fans who were once wary of Bow are now warming up to him, calling him a skilled goaltender.

Want to see if Bow can keep it up? The Birds will be playing against Portland on Saturday, March 5 at the ShoWare center. The puck drops at 7:05 and tickets can be purchased on the website as well as via telephone and the box office. The young men will also be playing at Tri-City on March 6, Sunday, at 5:05 PM. On Friday, March 11, they will be facing the Tips again as well. Will the Americans and Winterhawks beat Seattle or will the Birds’ winning streak continue? Post your predictions below and be sure to watch the game to find out.
