Group Health Youth Fitness
Seattle Storm basketball clinics

Basketball clinics present a fun, healthy and engaging atmosphere for children in schools, camps and recreation centers all over the globe. Not only do they help kids learn new skills and physical fitness, but they also help children acquire teambuilding skills, leadership traits and confidence. They may even begin a lifelong love of a new sport, a passion that could help them achieve goals, stay fit for life and even potentially earn scholarships. In return, the team itself gets to connect with the community, create new fans and really get to know some of their fans.

When the Seattle Storm leads Group Health youth fitness basketball clinics, a Storm player and coach work with youth to hone in on these skills and more. Kids are separated by age and skill level to maintain the best progress and encouragement for the children’s development. Each group works on a specific set of skills through drills with the team, but they do so in a fun, playful manner without too much competition to help keep kids interested. Each child will get one-on-one moments with players to receive tips to help develop their own basketball skills.

Kids who attend a Group Health youth fitness basketball clinic with the Storm will each receive a t-shirt, two free tickets to the Group Health youth fitness game and special appearances by the Storm. Doppler even attends the group health youth fitness practices, making them even more fun for families. Last year’s practice was held SeaTac, WA Tyee High Schoo.

Clinic dates are announced in May each year, so be sure to check for dates if you and your family are interested in attending a practice or a game. Last year, the first 300 fans who attended a Group Health youth fitness game were provided with one ticket voucher redeemable for two tickets to Youth Fitness Night, a night of fun and celebration for each attendant.

Kids who want to learn to play basketball or join the WNBA one day should definitely check out one of the clinics. Clinics are also great for aspiring coaches, sports doctors, athletic directors and any basketball-related career that children and teens may be interested in exploring for their future careers. They are also a fantastic opportunity to meet new friends and get to know the players of the Storm in person!
