Goalie of the Month
Bow is honored again

Seattle Thunderbirds goaltender Landon Bow is no stranger to being nominated for awards. He has made player of the week several times this season, and it’s really no surprise, given that Bow has had the most shutouts in the league this season. Fans of the Birds, once wary of the new goaltender, are now hailing him at the team’s not so secret weapon, hailing him as one of the reasons why the Birds were able to move forward so far and so steadily during the second half of the season.

Now Bow, 6’5” and 208 pounds, is being recognized as the Vaughn WHL Goaltender of the Month for March 2016. The Western Hockey League announced the honor earlier today. Bow had an amazing record in March, a month during which he went undefeated. His stats for the month were 11-0-0-0 and those include the four post-season wins against the Cougars. He had two shutouts during the month as well as 1.41 goals against average and a .947 save percentage, making him one of the strongest goaltenders in the league. He also earned four first star honors and two third star honors during the month, which were the most impressive goalie honors for the month. His total stats are now 74-56-8-5, including 15 shutouts.

Seattle Thunderbirds captain Jarret Smith says that Bow has definitely improved the team. “Our entire defense has gotten better as the season has gone along, but Bow has been a brick wall for us back there,” he said. Bow says that the feeling is mutual: “The team has really helped me out ever since I got here. I just feel more confident every game I play and more part of the team. There are no days off here. It’s all go, go, go and I love it. It’s a playoff atmosphere every single game.”

You can definitely tell that Bow, along with the rest of the team, has been working diligently to take the team this far to face the Silvertips in the second round of playoff games. The next game will occur on Friday, April 8 at the ShoWare Center. The puck drops at 7:35 PM. Tickets are still on sale so be sure to grab some to see WHL Goaltender of the Month Landon Bow and the rest of the Thunderbirds take on the Tips yet again. No matter the power they are bringing lately, they are still pumped forward by the support of their biggest fans.
