Catch Storm Games on JOEtv
New media partnerships announced

One of the main complaints of WNBA fans (as well as anyone simply involved in the WNBA—whether they be a player, coach, staff or otherwise) is the lack of media coverage. Sure, you can look up general stats on a player and team schedules online, but you don’t see nearly as much coverage as you do for the NBA. The imbalance would be hilarious in terms of, say, the amount of ice cream flavors in a banana split, but it’s pretty infuriating when it comes to women’s sports.

Thankfully, Lisa Borders and co are working hard to ensure that the teams are given proper media coverage from here on out, ensuring that teams are given a bigger platform on the national level. The local arena is also stepping forward—or they are in Seattle, at least.

Enter JOEtv (KZJO Ch. 22, cable 110) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ Ch. 13). The Seattle Storm is partnering with these media companies to provide you with better, more up to date coverage of the Storm. In fact, they will be broadcasting 15 home games through JOEtv so you can see them live! That’s just on the local level, of course; between WNBA LiveAccess, NBATV and ESPN2, you will be able to see ALL Storm games somewhere this year, whether they are at home or away.

Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis excitedly announced the news this week. “Q13 FOX and JOEtv have a proven commitment to enhanced coverage of local sports and we are thrilled to add the Storm to a network that already covers the Seahawks and Sounders. Not only does increased coverage of Seattle Storm basketball benefit our loyal fans but we hope it leads to future generations of Storm fans! We are very much looking forward to the partnership with Q13 FOX and JOEtv.”

Fans are saying it’s about time, too. They know just as well as the association president that you have to have coverage to get anywhere. This could be the big boost that the Storm needs to get those seats filled faster. This could also be the year that fans for the Storm rival for those of the Sounders and Seahawks in number and appreciation.

Are you excited about watching the Storm play via JOEtv? Will you be watching a lot of the games on television, or do you prefer to watch via the Internet or in person?
