Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid - 1

Q.  How did Pineda throw against the Brew?

A.  He threw fab.  He's a TOR starting pitcher.  Thanks for asking.

.

Q.  What game was everybody else watching?  :- )

A.  One in which they were looking for ERA, rather than for component skills...

Quid Pro Quo Dept.  At LL, our man Sully wrote up a very reasonable little report ---> balanced, though it's on the unimpressed side.  So sue 'em.

SSI differs in spots, but it's a good read, a great reality check for me, being as I'm impressed with Pineda.  We cross-checked it with gusto.  That's what a GM would use actual cross-checkers for:  he wants one bearish and one bullish, so he can grab the case for and the case against and apply his own judgment.

Tired old Dr. D is a bit fired up this mornin', but not in that direction.

And we ain't talking about da Bakery neither.  But as to the other big blog(s) .... talk about swinging over the top of a changeup, dude.

.

Q.  Pregame script called for Pineda to suffer because of undeveloped breaking pitches.

A.  That was the pregame script, and the game was interpreted to fit.

In reality, Michael Pineda showed everything he needs to show to be a star in the American League, starting right now.

Pineda showed me a lot more in that game than I ever dreamed he would.

.

Q.  I'm a lurker, and I think you're just married to your pro-Pineda position.

A.  Then stick around, hombre.  Pull up a chair and watch V-E-R-Y closely.

Because you are about to see this spring, in gorgeous IMAX 3D, a thunderous illustration of why SSI knows what it is talking about, and our friendly neighborhood scoffers:  don't.

We mean it in a good way.  And we're humble, too.

........

There's some nice compensation in the beating for you:  a local Big Three that have the Angels and Rangers dreading their trips to Safeco.

Michael Pineda is going to kick tail and take names, starting now, and not because he'll get better.  Rather, it will be because those same pitches will wipe out major league hitters in most ballgames.

Once his luck evens out, and once he tweaks just a couple little things.
