Crystal Langhorne is a forward player who was the very first Maryland basketball player to ever have her jersey raised while she was still active in the sport. Langhorne stands at 6’2 and weighs 185 pounds. She was born on October 27, 1986 in Queens, New York. She graduated from Willingboro High School in Willingboro, New Jersey. She attended college in Maryland, taking the Terrapins to the NCCA Championship and becoming the first player on the team to score 2,000 points.
In the 2008 WNBA Draft, Langhorne was the sixth overall pick. She was selected during the first round by the Washington Mystics. She played for the team from 2008 to 2013, earning several notable honors and awards during that time. Some of those included Most Improved Player in 2009 and the All-WNBA Second Team in 2010. She has been a WNBA All-Star for three times, including 2010, 2011 and 2013. The Storm acquired Langhorne through draft day trades in both 2013 and 2014, for Tianna Hawkins and Bria Hartley, respectively, during the first round of selections.
In terms of playing for the storm, Langhorne says, “I just tried to come in and play my game and tried to fit in.” She says that people need to remember that the game is not just a family as so many people call it, but also a business and that trade deals have to be made. She also says that she enjoys playing in Seattle because she has a good time with her teammates and often joins them on one of the team owner’s boats following a game victory.
During her regular season career, Langhorne has played in 266 games. She started in 226 of those. She has averaged 28.5 minutes per game with a field goal percentage of 0.559. Her three point goal percentage is 0.162. While playing for the Women’s U19 USA team in 2005 in Tunisia, Langhorne helped the team achieve a gold medal victory, scoring 16.6 points per game and winning all eight games.
