Konspiracy Korner: Bill James on Donald Trump
Either Voltaire or Robert Plant said something rather important

.

Rick pointed out this article, which creates an intersection between two of SSI's most talked-about celebrities.  James goes through a sharp list of five seminal reasons he would hate to see Donald Trump become President.  Then he proceeds to two or three things Trump is doing that James considers necessary.

An excerpt:

.

The Constitution doesn’t say that you have a right to be free from other people saying things you don’t want to hear. It says that you have a right to say whatever you want to say, and other people have to put up with that.

.

Along those lines, here is a Listverse article on the degree to which PC has taken over some college campuses:  http://listverse.com/2015/08/25/10-most-absurd-things-to-ban-on-politica...   Read if you dare.

And we might ask the question, If these kids did get ahold of the steering wheel, would this type of "cultural sensitivity" become the law of the land?

As long as we can talk to each other, we'll be all right.  "I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Hey, I attended the University of Oregon in the 70's!!!  Well, '75-'79.  It would have been hard to find a more liberal state university in the nation, at that point.  Maybe Cal-Berkeley.  Hey, there was no PC police, at all!  Man, you could say anything.  Free speech was in the vogue.  As it should be, btw, on a college campus.

Today?  Eeeeesh!!  Didn't I just read that more than 1/2 of college students favor limiting free speech on campus?

Sigh.  Congress shall make no law....abridging the freedom of speech, but I suppose the 1st Amendment says nothing about whiny college students who need safe zones, free from dissenting (ergo, "discriminatory") opinions, being able to do so.

Were it that the 1st Amendment banned whiny J-School professors from calling for more "muscle."

And spineless college presidents.

Robert Plant?  Whooo....he had some pipes!!   Led Zeppelin II was the album most played by one of my college roommates.  Back in the day of free speech on college campuses, anyway.  Alas, you might have to give a Trigger Warning every time you crank up LZ now.

Sigh....
