PSA on the Spamfilter

As most of youse know, I write on this site, and don't run it.  Please hold your applause until the speaker's finished.

Every time I check in, there are 100, 200, whatever, posts caught in the spamfilter -- pretty impressive for a site that was just launched.  :- )  The spambots these days conjure images of the Matrix's nanobots drilling through the earth's crust to get at New Jerusalem, or whatever that city was called...

On the first page of 25 posts, all 25 are (almost) always all spam.  But I know that somewhere in the next 200 posts are a few posts from amigos who wrote something great.  What a shame that I have no way to clear the time to fish for them.  And the spamfilter settings / widgets aren't within my province.

As you know, Dr. D does not censor, suppress ideas, edit criticism, burn flags or lobby to have the wording on Lincoln's Penny changed.  :- )  If your post doesn't show, thank the spambots.  And you have my verrrrrrrry sincere apologies...

.................

If you want to post without getting unfairly and infuriatingly tagged as an undesirable and having your post lost fo-evah, one key is to not hyperlink anything.  That's a key criterion used by the default WordPress spamfilter.

I also recommend getting into the habit of hitting command-C and stashing your wonderful speech before hitting the submit button.

Gotta love the chat room that Klat put onto the top of the page.  I'll bet there are a few of youse who didn't notice that we have T-A-L-K spelled backwards... promoting interactive speech is Klat's gig, so kudos to them for going after it with both hands.

Word is that the chat rooms will be separated by theme, meaning that the readers of Klat's 13-odd sports sites (all of which are defiled by Dr. D, I think) can chat regardless of which site they're on.  This could also help to bring some coherency to those who are exasperatedly following Dr. D's whining and crying all over the internet.

Oh, and if y’were actually asking, it’s 13 sites so far:

SSI
ProBall USA

9 assorted city sports sites: Boston, DC, Miami, NY, Pitt, LA, Hou, Chi, SF

Spirituality In the 21st Century
Freaky Phenomena

Don’t sweat the lean times, though. The network will get a lot bigger. ;- )

.................

BTW, I can see where it would be more convenient to read everything in one spot, like D-O-V. However, as you suspected, I’m not always calling my own shots.  :- )

What we can do for yer, is put a blogroll on Seattle Sports Insider, and then you can periodically check the other sites and catch up on those if you want.

………………

There are pros and cons to being deployed to a bunch of different sites, but if the worst complaint I get is that amigos are afraid they’ll miss something we wrote, then we’re not in too bad a shape :- )

Rock on,

Jeff
