Explore Miami’s Beautiful Churches

One fun way to spend some time with your special someone is to wander through Miami and check out some of the beautiful churches here. You don’t have to be religious to be able to appreciate the all the work that went into these magnificent buildings. The St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church in North Miami Beach is one example. This amazing building was built back in the 12th century, in Spain, but was transported overseas to Miami.

What is corned beef?

Every year as St. Patrick's Day rolls around, suddenly corned beef is the topic of the day. (I'll be honest with you, I am personally not a big fan of corned beef. Too salty, with a bit of a weird sour taste that seems "off" to me. But that just leaves more for the rest of you, right?)

First of all, corned beef has nothing to do with corn. Corned beef has been treated with a very coarse salt, with grains that were said to be the size of corn kernels. These "corns" of salt are what lends corned beef its name.

Open on Christmas? I’m not impressed.

After spending a semester in a small town in Spain, I am now highly in favor of everyone taking a day off together once a week. With the exception of some restaurants—and even they closed for a few hours—most businesses were closed on Sunday. Sunday was spent in leisure, with the young people stumbling home at 5am to sleep and the older folks strolling in the square, having brunch with one another at a café, or playing games outside together.
