Liquor Lyle’s

Liquor Lyle’s is a combination of a bar and restaurant that proudly caters to the crowd that wants something simple and cheap.  They even go so far as to bill themselves as a “classic seedy dive bar”.  The charm behind such a bar is that you get friendly bartenders, strong drinks and a crowd of people that is there to have fun.  It’s easy to meet new people when everyone is relaxed and comfortable and just a little liquored up.  For locals and visitors alike, this is a place that will have you coming back again and again.   Has anyone been to Liquor

Drunken Swedish elk attacks

Every fall when apples fall off the trees and ferment on the ground, the Swedish police force braces itself for calls about belligerent drunken elk. Evidently the elk are quite fond of their ad hoc apple liquor, and they are angry drunks. One elk barred a man from entering his own home. Another got in a drunken brawl with a swing set and dragged it 820 feet across the playground before managing to free itself.

Sweden is dangerous, folks!

Review: The Shining (1980)

It recently came to my attention that Stephen king is about to release a new book, a book that is, in fact, a sequel to his old classic The Shining.  While I probably won’t pick up the King book, I did suddenly get an urge to go back and see the Stanley Kubrick adaptation of the first story.  And though Kubrick does stray quite a bit from the original story, instead choosing to do his own thing with the film, this film still remains one of the best horror flicks ever and a great film overall.

High class digs for backpackers

It isn't often that backpackers get to live the life of luxury. Sure they are traveling and not working. Sometimes a lucky few win the lotto with a loaded couch surfing host who takes you on the yacht.

Besides a few chance encounters with those from the upper class wanting to bestow the good life among those who live out of bags, most of us stay in smelly, loud dorm rooms. While this is typically the case, for those backpackers who make it to the Gold Coast of Australia, a stop in Surfer’s Paradise can open up your eyes.

The Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas

The city of Las Vegas is known throughout the world as a place of decadence, and with the high concentration of gambling, strippers and houses of ill repute, it’s no wonder.  But money and naked ladies aren't the only means that Las Vegas visitors have to indulge their hedonism.  One particular restaurant, known as the Heart Attack Grill, takes the experience of eating unhealthy food and turns it into an art form.

It’s science! Sperm, big numbers and alien economics

Every day people run around discovering new stuff.  Sometimes it’s for the sake of improving society and making life easier for people that they do their research.  Other times it almost seems like these revelations were created while under the influence of some mind-impairing drug.  But either way, we do end up with some pretty interesting ideas thanks to the work of innovators around the world.  This week, I’m going to look at a few “interesting” discoveries I’ve stumbled across thanks to this wonderful thing we call the Internet.

1: Exercise makes you fertile!
