Poor Wood Sprite took her eraser collection to Girl Scouts tonight for her show and tell time and completely forgot the bean bun eraser she loves so much at home! It was actually my own fault; I had packed it back into her Little Passports luggage box, pictured here, before we left. Each month Sprite receives a new package in the mail from another country through the subscription, and the little souvenirs are her favorite part.
Every year as St. Patrick's Day rolls around, suddenly corned beef is the topic of the day. (I'll be honest with you, I am personally not a big fan of corned beef. Too salty, with a bit of a weird sour taste that seems "off" to me. But that just leaves more for the rest of you, right?)
First of all, corned beef has nothing to do with corn. Corned beef has been treated with a very coarse salt, with grains that were said to be the size of corn kernels. These "corns" of salt are what lends corned beef its name.
For someone who does not own a dog, I am surprisingly knowledgeable about the dog-friendly restaurant situation in Washington State. I have a friend with a rather large dog who goes everywhere with her, and we often meet for lunch or dinner.
