Just when you think mosquitoes can't be more annoying, giant versions called 'gallinippers' will be making Florida their home this summer. While not completely new to the state, Psorophora ciliata numbers have jumped since Tropical Storm Debby made her way across the state last year. So, what's the story on these flying, furry-legged pests?
An African lion killed 24-year-old intern Dianna Hanson in an attack on Wednesday, Mar. 6 at Project Survival's Cat Haven located in Dunlap, California. According to CNN, Dr. David Hadden, Fresno County coroner, says that Hanson died instantly of a broken neck and other neck-related injuries.
The flight was no problem, two hours south from San Diego, but the three-hour drive north to La Paz was another matter. I was full of anticipation for the next four days spent diving in the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez but that wore thinner the longer our van rumbled along. We arrived at the outskirts of the city after dark. My travel and dive buddy speaks Spanish, so stopping at the local big box store to gather some supplies was a simple request.

The crocheted afghan on Roseanne's couch. But none of these iconic items can compare to an animated show's distinctive color palette.
I'm pretty tired of "experts" telling you what you should eat. Mark Bittman (a food writer I usually respect) rubbed me the wrong way with his recent article on the Mediterranean Diet. This diet is supposedly good for your heart, but as Bittman admits, the control group was faulty, and the conclusions of the original study were far from earth-shaking.
If you plan on visiting Lake Tahoe, you may be surprised to see what can only be described as monster goldfish swimming in those waters. Researchers have recently found goldfish of epic proportions; the one pictured here weighed 4.2 pounds and was 1.5 feet long, according to Scientific American. Scientists believe the goldfish found their way to the lake by being dumped by their owners.
Unicorns and dragons and bigfoots and chupacabras.
