The madness is almost over

March may come in like a lion and leave like a lamb in regards to weather, but if you are a sports fan, this isn't true at all. The last days of March, and the first days of April, are some of the most exciting days in sports thanks to the NCAA March Madness tournament. Each year for one month, college hoops takes the center stage. With the playoff system being one giant, hectic, beautiful, single-elimination spectacle, sports fans are on the edge of their seats until the final shot on the second Monday in April.

People know what their dog is feeling, a recent study shows.

Do you think you know how your dog is feeling? I know I've felt that way sometimes. Our German shepherd, Apache, displays a range of emotions. She is happy when praised, given a treat, or asked to play a game. She is sad when reprimanded. She is afraid of loud thunder, evident not only by her expression, but by the fact that she hides under my desk. Until now, if I told you that I could accurately read her emotions, you may think I'm just a crazy pet owner. A recent study shows, though, that humans can predict a dog's emotions by looking at its facial expressions.

Archer, "Un Chien Tangerine"

I'll be honest with you, I barely paid attention to the story in this particular episode. (Although it was pretty great, and featured an admirably streamlined storytelling style compared to some of the more recent episodes.) In addition to some truly incredible dog-related animation work, this episode also continues the Archer tradition of featuring beautiful background art. Here taken to the pinnacle in the Morocco scenes with their lush backgrounds and intricate patterns and textures.

Chicken: If it's dry, you're doing it wrong

I didn't really care about "plumping" until I got a slow cooker. Time after time, when I cooked a dish with chicken in the slow cooker, it ended up filled with water. I would put in (say) a pound of boneless skinless chicken breast and a jar of spaghetti sauce, and four hours later it would look like I had dumped in a cup of water too.

Five ways to save on your grocery bill

There are loads of tips on the Internet about saving money on your grocery bill. Those tips have their merits, but many of them have one thing in common: Asking you to change your food choices. Frankly, I know that reducing meat or cutting it out altogether will shave quite a bit of money from my grocery bill. But we like meat. We don't want to live on rice and beans. Here are five tips for saving money on groceries that don't involve giving up foods you love.

Frugal celebrities

While the term "frugal celebrity" may seem a contradiction in terms, some of them actually are penny-pinchers. They may don fancy clothes, spend thousands on cosmetics, or buy cars and homes that are out of reach for most of us, their spending compared to their net worth is remarkably small. Fame and fortune don't turn them all into big spenders. Here are some of Hollywood's most savvy celebs.

Del Coronado: A picture from the past

Ghost stories and movie stars, entrepreneurs and gamblers, royalty and presidents, regardless the company, the regal Hotel del Coronado remains an elegant icon of a more genteel time.

Today’s tourism boards make sure that the architectural beauty is featured in every article or film about the San Diego region. However it sits on a shallow bite of land that was once merely decorated by sand and scrub brush. Two visionaries changed all that.

Throwing away money is fun

It is no lie that the amount of money paid to professional athletes is absolutely ridiculous. We are at a time where we actually cheer for athletes when they decided to take a pay cut of a few million to help out their team, while they are still being paid at least another few million. While many of us are barely making ends meet, these jokers are being paid top-dollar to play games…but we all still watch it.
