Will the Ms sweep the hapless Indians and reclaim their manhood?  Who can say.  What we can say with some certainty is that Happ is a better pitcher right now than Walker and Marcum is definitely not as good a pitcher as Bauer.  So there's that.

#Montgomery is growing with every start he's made this year, both in the minors and now with the big club. Good get from #Tampa for Erasmo, who was never gonna get favor back with The Pencil. Here's hoping it works out for both clubs. Unless we face Erasmo again, then I kinda hope he falls down a little. Just sayin'. #G_Money #SSI<div class="indented">Reply - mickiholley - 10/4/15 2:59pm<br>sometimes it takes time to find the right groove when coming up to the big club</div>

I really like this #Montgomery guy...I grabbed him off the waiver wire in fantasy about two innings into his first start and he's earning me some points today. :) #SABR_Matt #SSI

This means that Morrison has 8 homers on the year and 3 of them are against McHugh. #SABR_Matt #SSI

LOL like I said - LoMo only hits homers against McHugh. And yeah, loved Blow explaining what's going on with Cano and what the implemented fixes are. Wish we got more of that stuff on these broadcasts. #G_Money #SSI

Couple more feet for a double for Seager. Instead he got the RBI. I'll take the run. #G_Money #SSI<div class="indented">Reply - mickiholley - 10/4/15 3:01pm<br>take the run any day!</div>

Finally. Surprised they brought up Farquhar instead of Guti, but might be a 40 man thing. Or they just wanted the extra arm after Felix imploded in case the same thing happens today. Let's NOT see that, yeah? #G_Money #SSI

The same thing that always happens when we play them. Wow. Not the way to start a crucial series. It all started with Bloomquist simply not having a shortstop's arm, allowing Altuve to beat out a grounder to short. #DaddyO #SSI

Ryne Inman (15th round teen arm and former teammate of Neidert) has signed and will be reporting to rookie ball to room with the aforementioned Neidert. We do seem to be getting all the teen arms actually in here, which is really nice. Not Parker, but if we get everybody else it'll be a nice little haul. #G_Money #SSI

Matt, I hope you are able to enlighten us one way or the other from a data perspective on ump bias and the M's. I know that fans of all teams think their team is routinely jobbed more than any other team. That's why I'm interested in a more objective data analysis of umpiring variations for each team. I'd like to know if the sense I have as an M's fan is just an illusion, the result of a selection bias on my part, or if there really is solid evidence that the M's are among the teams most discriminated against by home plate umpires when it comes to ball-strike calls.

If a bias against the Mariners was ever documented, it would certainly help explain why so many Mariners hitters underperform even after coming to the team having demonstrated better success elsewhere. My only hesitation in wondering whether this is the case is the suspicion that if it was true some kind of chatter by managers and players, even former ones, would have leaked out to that effect. Therefore I'm inclined to believe it's probably selection bias on my part. But I truly do wonder. # #DaddyO #seattlesportsinsider.com<div class="indented">Reply - mickiholley - 10/4/15 3:03pm<br>that would be interesting data to see</div>

To sum up the post: Most of the teen arms seem to be on the verge of signing quickly. Neidert's twitter says he's leaving friends and fam today (heading here), Moorse signed (not a teen but shut up), Orozco is signing (5th-ish round talent), Peeler is 95% to sign (his own words). McFadden told MLB.com he probably won't sign, but he wants 3rd round #Money and we may not be able to scrape together the $800k. If we could get hit to settle for $650, maybe... Depends what Neidert signs for. If Neidert signs for slot, then there's basically no way we get McFadden. #G_Money #SSI

the level to which Cano is reacting to the bad calls is rising with time - you can just hear his thoughts "that was never a strike in the Bronx!" I intend to eventually prove that umpires have team biases. #SABR_Matt #SSI

Re: umpires and Cano. I wonder whether part of Cano's struggles this year (PART, not all), have to do with the Mariner-ization of his strike zone over time, that as compared to the Yankee-ization he has historically received. The assumption here is that my eyes have not deceived me over the years, and Yankees get favorable treatment from HP umpires while Mariners get unfavorable treatment. Since umps were USED TO umpiring him as a Yankee, perhaps it's taken a year or so for them to gradually start calling his balls and strikes like they would a Mariners player. Just a thought, and certainly not a full explanation of Cano's troubles. But he certainly has routinely been the victim of unfavorable calls all season, and he has clearly become increasingly frustrated with it as the season wears on. Almost every at bat has become an example of bad calls early in the count and Cano stepping out and looking visibly frustrated and disgusted. #DaddyO #SSI
