I'd probably take Detroit's 1-2 and Seattle vs Boston is a close call.

Both Verlander (hes turning into the top pitcher in the game) and Lester (utilizing the changeup has made him rediculously dominant over the past two starts) are individually the best starters in the AL along with Greinke and Halladay. I don't think Felix, Edwin Jackson, Bedard, and Beckett are that far behind but are clearly in the next tier behind those guys. Edwin Jackson looks like he may be joining the Top 5 list soon though.. hes been improving at a wicked pace.

Seattle 1-2 can compete with anybody's, and they have Washburn at #3 having a career year with capable BOR starters.

Hard to ignore Lincecum-Cain. Cain's enough of a 'weak link' in the conversation to possibly offset Lincy's awesomeness, but you gotta hand it to a 1-2 that can call Cain the weak link.

Or by 'league' were we specifically discussing the AL?

'cause once you start talking Tim Lincecum you've got me on the ropes. :- )

... It's cool to be able to argue about the top handful of 1-2 guys, and whether the Mariner guns are a shade the better or a shade the worse. Reminds me of arguing, back in the 1990's, whether Griffey was the best choice for #1 pick in a roto draft.
